A life long passion for motorsports and 27 years web design experience make a pretty good combination for the desire to produce motorsports website for a living. And so Targa (named out of pure vanity after my beloved 911) was formed.
I still have vivid childhood memories of banger and stock car racing at Brafield near Northampton, along with regular visits to Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Mallory Park to watch Barry Sheene, Ron Haslam, Mick Grant, Steve Parrish and Randy Mamola tearing up the tarmac on two wheels.
But close wheel to wheel car racing is where much of my focus is, and throughout the year I attend as many race meetings as I can, closely following British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), GT, British F4, GB3, Porsche Carrera Cup, Ginettas, Quaife Mini Challenge, etc.
My own racing days ended in my late teens when a few too many motocross injuries cause me to re-think and focus on a career. Eventually that path led me to building websites.
So what about web design?
I started building websites back in 1996, and have remained engaged with Web Design, User Experience (UX), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Search Engine Optimisation, etc., ever since.
Much of that time was spent fulfilling various roles in web design, development, graphics, web project management, etc., for the global multinational company Hertz. Amongst the highlights at Hertz was their sponsorship of the British MotoGP at Silverstone for a number of years, which provided a great opportunity to get up close to the action, and provide tours and insights to our corporate guests.
